Together with Solidaridad, the GSRD foundation aims to improve the income options and conditions for small farmers in the Bolangir District of Orissa, India via the Pro Cotton program. The objective of the program is to build capacity of the Pratima Organic Growers’ Group (POGG), increase the production and productivity of organic and Fair Trade cotton farmers and improve marketing systems to increase the income for farmers.

The project strives to realize six results. We aim to enhance technical and managerial capacities of farmers; improve production of cotton and other field crops through better farming practices; formalize POGG as an legal entity with a stake in production and marketing of cotton; develop the capacities of staff on technical and social issues; develop a business plan for POGG; and to develop a management system for POGG and make it operational.
